About AIM

AIM Employment Services is a Commonwealth Government funded specialist Disability Employment Service which assists people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder to find and keep a job. We work closely with the person to find positions in the workforce that best suit their interests and skills.


AIM Employment is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. 

What we offer:

AIM Employment provides a tailored service for each individual jobseeker across a full range of needs and circumstances. We will assist you to set achievable goals to gain meaningful employment. People assisted may require full-time, part-time or visiting support by our staff or a mix of these options from time to time.

Eligibility

To be eligible for assistance from our service, the person should meet the following criteria:

  • Have a formal diagnosis of an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This includes Autism, Asperger Syndrome and PDD (NOS)
  • Be 16 years of age or over
  • Meet Centrelink criteria through a Job Capacity Assessment for receiving assistance through a Disability Employment Provider, or, if currently at school, be in the last six months of
  • leaving school, or looking for part time work outside of school hours
  • Reside in the Perth metropolitan area

The types of jobs we assist job seekers to access is dependent on many factors including the job seekers’ skills, abilities and interests, the job seekers’ individual needs, and the availability of suitable jobs in the local area.

AIM Employment assists jobseekers in the following areas:

  • Ascertaining suitable employment options
  • Individualised employment assistance planning
  • Pre-vocational and vocational counselling
  • Resume development
  • Learning transport routes and catching public transport
  • Preparing for, and attending interviews
  • Accessing further education
  • Assistance to access traineeships and apprenticeships
  • Assistance with job search
  • Preparing job applications
  • Support to learn the job and develop links and relationships with the employer
  • Assessing the job and its environment to ascertain its suitability
  • Supported wage
  • Pay and conditions
  • On the job support
  • On going follow-up support
  • Training to the employer and co workers about autism and the job seekers individual needs
  • Career progression
