Eligibility and Enrolment Guidelines

To be enrolled at the Autism Specific Early Learning and Care Centre children must be aged between zero and 6 years and have a diagnosis of ASD or ASD like symptoms.

Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) have outlined a number of priority access guidelines to assist parents most in need and to target certain ages.

Provisional Priority of Access Guidelines

The enrolment guidelines provided by the Government for the program specify levels of priority the Autism Specific Early Learning and Care Centre must follow when filling vacancies.

Centres are required to allocate places to those children and familes with the greatest need for support. High in the priority list will be children with a diagnosis of ASD attending Kindergarten (the year before they are eligible to attend pre primary). Next in the list of priorities will be children with a diagnosis of ASD attending two years before they are eligible to attend pre primary.

Enquiries and Enrolment

The Centre is open now and accepting enrolments. The program at this stage is funded to continue until July 2012.

As the priority access guidelines preclude first in, first served enrolment, applications for enrolment forms will need to be completed prior to enrolment. The Centre intends to keep parents informed and to make the process work as smoothly as possible.

What should I do?

Contact the Program Manager (ASELCC) at the Autism Association (tel: 9203 8449) or Wendy at Jellybeans Child Care Centre at Warwick (tel: 9243 5577) and we will complete an Expression of Interest for you over the phone.

Parents/Carers should note that this initiative is complimentary to existing state services and schooling options. Parents are encouraged to consider this offer as in addition to kindergarten or other services and as such should not withdraw from other complimentary services.
