Individual Accommodation Support

The Autism Association provides support to individuals who are able to live semi-independently in the community. This support is tailored according to the needs of the individual and can range from a few hours each week up to sixty hours per week.

Who is Eligible?

Adults who have a formal and recognised diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder who have been granted Accommodation Support Funding (ASF) by the Disability Services Commission.

People who:

  • are independent in self care
  • are verbal
  • can transport themselves independently
  • can use the telephone
  • can manage a household budget with some support
  • have a high degree of independence in the area of medication
  • live in their own home

Services provided

  • Assistance and training in maintaining a household budget
  • Assistance in maintaining the cleanliness of their home
  • Training in cooking skills, where required
  • Assistance in organising home repairs and maintenance
  • Training in social skills and to be part of the community involvement, for example, through recreation.
  • Support for attending medical appointments
  • Advocacy
