National Initiatives
The Autism Association have been involved in setting up a range of national partnerships, forming part of the Commonwealth Government's initiatives funded under the Helping Children with Autism Package. These national partnerships have resulted in some exciting developments to provide additional services and support for families in Western Australia.
Early Days Parent Workshops
The Autism Association is a First Provider of the Early Days Workshops in Western Australia. We have established a partnership to deliver these free one-day workshops across Western Australia. All Early Intervention parents are encouraged to attend. Each family who attends the Early Days Introductory Workshop is eligible to receive a $100 support payment to help cover costs such as travel and childcare.
The workshops provide up-to-date information about Autism Spectrum Disorders; ways to promote your child's learning and development; types of early intervention and making decisions about intervention for your child.
To register your interest in attending an Early Days Workshop please phone Freecall: 1800 334 155 or online www.earlydays.net.au
Positive Partnerships
This is a national training program aimed at improving the educational outcomes for school aged children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Staff from the Autism Association form part of the national team and are involved in the development of materials and the delivery of workshops in metropolitan and regional areas of Western Australia. This program is funded through The Positive Partnerships: supporting school aged students on the autism spectrum initiative.
Professional development for teachers and other school staff who are working with students with ASD is available online and in face-to-face workshops. We encourage you to discuss these options with your child's teacher.
Free workshops and information sessions for parents and carers of school aged children with ASD are available now. To register your interest go to:www.autismtraining.com.au
