Autism Masterclass with Dr Barry Prizant

PERTH 26-27 JULY 2012

Addressing “Problem Behaviour” enabling Successful Inclusion for Students with Autism: A two-day Workshop for Educators and Carers of Children and Adolescents with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

An Overview
Dr Prizant has more than 40 years experience as a clinical scholar, consultant, researcher and program consultant to children and older persons with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental disabilities, and to their families. He is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and holds the Certifi cate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

Dr Prizant has received many honours in his career, including the Princeton University-Eden Foundation fellowship award for career contributions in developing services for persons with Autism (2005); Fellowship in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association; and the Massachusetts Speech-Language-Hearing Association Clinical Achievement Award (on two occasions). He is a co-author/editor of the book Autism Spectrum Disorders: A Transactional Developmental Perspective (2000), and has published numerous articles on wide-ranging aspects of Autism.

Participants Will Learn
Participants of this two-day workshop will learn practical, respectful and innovative ways to assess and prevent “problem behaviours” in supporting individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. The workshop will explore ways to design inclusive learning environments and activities to enhance learning and the quality of social participation in daily activities and routines at school, at home, and in the wider community.
