Congratulations Residential Team Service Excellence Award
Posted on: 20/05/2010
Well done Residential Services on achieving the highest award possible for Service Excellence presented by the Minister for Disability Services, the Hon Simon O’Brien. We are all very proud of your achievement.
During the ten years that the Awards have been in place, the Autism Association has received 5 Awards, on three occasions for Group Homes and twice for Residential Respite. The Award presented yesterday, however, is the highest category possible with only two organisations receiving this Award, including the Autism Association.
In granting the Award, the following was acknowledged:
- The family-like atmosphere in the group home
- The skill and dedication of staff who contribute beyond normal work expectation
- The positive changes in many aspects of all residents lives, as described by family members
- The organisation and presentation of written policies, procedures and house management information
- The respect displayed between staff, residents, and relatives
- The willingness of staff and family members to encourage and support residents to pursue goals and dreams.
- The sensitive transition of clients into the group home, as reported by all their relatives
It is really important to make special mention of Katie Jewell, the Coordinator, and Irene Lightenhall, Residential Support Worker, whose tireless work have contributed enormously to this Award.
I would also like to acknowledge the full residential services team of support workers, co-ordinators, program support managers, and the Executive Manager, Jean Taylor, for a job well done. The regard shown to families, the continuous building of relationships, the meticulous attention to detail in ensuring services of the highest quality to people with Autism, have made possible this outstanding achievement.
My sincerest thanks and my appreciation to you all. Congratulations!
Joan McKenna Kerr
