KEY AIMS

Following this one-day seminar you will:

  • Have an increased awareness of ways that Autism presents
  • Have an increased awareness of the range of characteristics within the Autism Spectrum
  • Have an increased ability to identify the communication, socialization and behavioural difficulties in children with Autism
  • Have greater awareness of ways to work more effectively within the Early Childhood environment
  • Have greater understanding of the use of visual supports
  • Be more informed on ways of developing play skills in children with Autism
  • Be more informed on Positive Behaviour Support strategies appropriate to Early Childhood settings

FURTHER INFORMATION

Participants will be assisted to make the connection between theory and practice to enhance their ability to work with children with Autism. This seminar promotes self-reflection and consideration of one’s own communication style and behaviours while working with children with Autism. The
seminar will be presented using a combination of direct instruction, small group work and video presentation.

INTENDED PARTICIPANTS

People working in Early Childhood settings with children up to 6 years old, including Teachers and Education Assistants.

OTHER

  • Morning tea and light lunch included
  • Registrations from 8:30am - 9:15am
  • Seminars will commence at 9:30am sharp and finish at 3:30pm
  • Child Care is NOT provided
