In non-urgent situations, the first step to getting professional help is to make an appointment with your General Practitioner (GP).
Your GP can find out more about your situation and come up with a plan to help you. This might involve creating a Mental Health Care Plan. This could include referring you to a Psychologist to find out more about how you are feeling and come up with strategies to help. In some situations, a referral to a Psychiatrist (a medical doctor specialising in mental health) may be recommended (for example, if there is a need to review medication).
