Please note that we require a minimum of 10 registrations for this workshop to go ahead.
Does your child have an AAC high tech system that they use to support their communication?
This training will help provide you with detailed information about your child’s high tech AAC device.
In this presentation, specialist Speech Pathologists will explain why and how high tech AAC systems such as dedicated devices and iPads should extend beyond requesting basic wants and needs and allow the person to ask questions, make a comment, protest, negotiate, greet others, tell a joke and share a story.
This presentation will also discuss how to easily implement AAC systems into your daily routines and practical strategies such as adding, editing and deleting buttons, changing pronunciations, masking vocabulary and storing news and visual scenes.
We ask that you please bring along your child’s AAC device so that we can use it within the session. Alternately we will have devices to demonstrate.
If your child is at school your child’s teacher is also welcome to attend.
If you are currently a client of The Autism Association of WA, this training is complimentary and you may attend at no cost.
For all other families, we have kept costs to a minimum which is $50 per person or $75 for a couple.
