Behaviour is how we act and react to everyday environments and situations. We all engage in behaviour that challenges others at times, its part of being a person. In some cases though, people develop behaviours that persist, interfering with their day-to-day experiences, affecting their relationships and impacting their quality of life. A positive and pro-active approach includes considering the reasons for the person’s behaviour so that we can work out how to help make things better for them.

‘Hidden Curriculum’ is the term used for information that people seem to automatically know without ever being explicitly taught. It involves the ‘unwritten rules’ in situations and ability to read between the lines to get an idea of what’s expected in different places, with certain people, at a specific location or within a particular culture.
As young people transition from primary school to high school, these ‘unwritten rules’ become more complex.
