Challenging behaviour happens, not because the person who has Autism is trying to be ‘difficult’, but because they are responding to a situation in the only way they know how. Social relationships and friendships provide us with experience in managing our own emotions, responding to the feelings of others, collaborating, negotiating and problem-solving. Children with Autism often require support to develop the skills they need to make and keep friends. Join us as we look at how to build on your child’s strengths to help them navigate and benefit from the social dynamics of friendship in primary school.
