We are excited to announce that based on the current advice from the government and Department of Health, we are planning to run our KONTAKT Teens Social Skills Group next term. To allow us to prepare for Term 3, we encourage you to submit your Expression of Interest to join this program. As things change in relation to social restrictions we will continue to revise plans in line with advice from the government and Department of Health.
The KONTAKT group is a manualised group program developed to support teenagers aged 12 to 17 years with high level social skills goals. The group is discussion based and participants are required to set their own goals for building on their social skills and participate in homework tasks.
Whilst there are group activities and games, the program is most effective when group members are able to engage in shared discussion with other participants in a “round the table” discussion format to work through and problem-solve social skills challenges. For this reason, it is important to find out a little more about your child to determine their suitability for this group.
As part of the application process, you may receive a follow-up phone call based on the information provided in your answers. All participants are required to attend a one-to-one interview with the Program Managers – time and date to be confirmed.
Please note: if your child is not suited to this type of group your Key Therapist can discuss alternative group options for this age group.
