Sports Academy January Wrap Up

Sports Academy – Kids Jan 2025

Throughout the January school holidays, aspiring athletes joined our Sports Academy Program at Lords Recreation Centre, Subiaco, for plenty of sporting fun.

Sports Academy is a social skills program where children and teenagers come together to explore different sports in small groups. Each group was supported in trying a range of different sports, including:

  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Volleyball
  • Adaptive volleyball

These groups offer a comfortable and supported environment to develop connections with peers, build teamwork skills and enjoy getting active.

To make this week possible, we teamed up with some specialist sports coaches from local clubs. You can find out more about the coaches and clubs who joined us and see them in action during the week below.

Following the program, participants were supported by our therapy team and specialist coaches to link in with their local community club to further their sporting skills.

Whether having found a new love for sport, being part of an inclusive team or connecting with peers with common interests – participants walked away at the end of the week with new experiences, valuable skills, and having had a whole lot of fun!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the January Sports Academy. We look forward to seeing families and coaches again in April.

Sports Academy is provided as part of our comprehensive therapy service and is facilitated by our therapy team in collaboration with specialist sports coaches. You can find out more information about the program here.
