These groups are provided as a part of our comprehensive therapy service and are only available as an option to families currently accessing therapy services with us. If you are not currently accessing therapy services with us and would like to find out more, we encourage you to submit an expression of interest for services by clicking here.

Therapy Groups: 

These groups will focus on developing social and emotional skills. Each group will offer an opportunity for your child to review skills learnt throughout the term and work towards developing new skills under the guidance of Inclusion Facilitators and Therapists.

The descriptions below will help you to determine which group is most suited to your child. Please take the time to read these prior to submitting your interest.

Let’s Go Lego® – for children in School years 1 – 6

In this group, participants are encouraged to create masterpieces and complete building challenges using the endless opportunities Lego® provides.
These activities will provide participants the opportunity to:

  • develop their ability to follow instructions
  • share ideas
  • collaborate
  • compromise and negotiate

Teens’ Boardgame Group- for high school children ages 13 -17 years

This group will provide teens the opportunity to play some of their favourite boardgames in a relaxed and supported setting. It’s a wonderful opportunity for participants to meet new people as well as practice skills relating to:

  • rule following
  • working as a team
  • negotiating
  • managing emotions when winning and losing

Featured boardgames will vary depending on the ages and interests of the group; some suggestions may include Codenames, Monopoly, Game of Life and Chameleon.

Let’s Go Lego®

  • Dates: 12th, 13th and 14th of January 2022
  • Time: 9.00am to 12.00pm daily

Teens’ Boardgame Group

  • Dates: 12th, 13th and 14th of January 2022
  • Time: 1.00pm to 4.00pm daily

Locations

Groups will be offered from each of the following Autism Association locations based on expressions of interest at each site:

  • Subiaco
  • Joondalup
  • Midland
  • Gosnells
  • Fremantle

Total cost of $439.04 for the full group.

  • Groups will be delivered by our inclusion facilitators and will incorporate 15 minutes for your therapist to develop a brief profile document in preparation for the group.
  • Expressions of interest are not confirmation of a group. Groups are offered based on suitability for ages and needs, and subject to availability. Times may be subject to change.

Lego 2

Sports Academy: 

Each program will run for 2 days, during this time participants will have the opportunity to try a number of different sports and be supported to link in with local community sports programs based on their academy experiences. These programs will be facilitated by qualified coaches alongside Therapists.

 

Academy Options

  • Where and when:
    • Guildford Grammar School, Guildford – Thursday, 20th January and Friday, 21st January 2022
    • Newman College, Churchlands – Thursday, 27th January and Friday, 28th January 2022
  • Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm 
  • Who should attend: Children with a diagnosis of Autism in school years 4 to 6. 

  • Where and when:
    • Newman College, Churchlands – Monday, 17th January and Tuesday, 18th January 2022
    • Emmanuel Catholic College, Success – Wednesday, 19th January and Thursday, 20th January 2022
  • Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm 
  • Who should attend: Teenagers with a diagnosis of Autism in school years 7 to 11. 

Cost

Total cost of $746.21 for the 2 day Sports Academy. This includes 12 hours face-to-face support, a summary report following completion and support to link in with your local sporting club. All aspects of the Sports Academy can be accessed from your CB Daily Activity NDIS Funding.
