Our experienced multidisciplinary therapy team, offer a range of therapy groups throughout the year.

Each group focuses on specific social requirements for participants 16 years and over.


Learn how to make and keep friends and develop relationships

The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) is the leading research-based social skills training program for people with social challenges and has a strong evidence base for use with young adults with Autism.

This program will focus on reaching the following goals through each session and weekly homework activities:

  • Starting, maintaining and ending conversations
  • Finding and maintaining friendships and organising get-togethers
  • Problem solving
  • Using social media
  • Recognising humour
  • Managing bullying
  • Shaping romantic relationships
  • Self-confidence

Who Should Register?

This group suits people aged 18-35 years who have:

  • An Autism diagnosis
  • Good verbal communication

Note:

  • NDIS Capacity Building Supports Funding is required to participate
  • A social mentoring coach (e.g. parent, sibling, Support Worker) is also required to attend the group with the participant

Learn ways to relax your mind throughout the day

Our Mindfulness group is a 6-week program for young adults wanting to learn simple relaxation strategies that can be used throughout everyday life to manage experiences, thoughts and feelings.

This online group will introduce you to mindfulness and show you ways you can relax your mind through:

  • Breathing
  • Progressive muscle relaxation
  • Grounding
  • Visualisation
  • Meditation

Who should register?

This group is for individuals aged 17 years and over who have:

  • An Autism diagnosis
  • Good verbal communication

Note:

  • The group will be run online via Zoom
  • NDIS Capacity Building Supports Funding is required to participate

Learn key skills for the workplace

The EmployMe pre-employment preparation therapy group targets social skills, organisation skills, interview preparation, how to write a cover letter and resume, and communication in the workplace. This informative and interactive program will focus on core areas and skills that will support you to find employment.

This program will focus on reaching the following goals through each session:

  • Resume building
  • Job application skills
  • Interview skills
  • Telephone tips
  • Understanding workplace culture
  • Handling workplace feedback
  • Workplace social etiquette
  • Conversation skills

Who Should Register?

This group is for young adults aged 16 and over who have:

  • An Autism diagnosis
  • Good verbal communication

Note: 

  • NDIS Capacity Building Supports funding is required
  • This program was previously called PEARLES

Let’s Get Cooking!

Kitchen Masters is an 8-week adult therapy group, where participants develop their communication and social skills through activity-based learning and have the opportunity to develop friendships. In this program you will learn about safety and hygiene in the kitchen and build upon your practical cooking skills!

This program will focus on reaching the following goals through each session:

  • Foundational cooking skills
  • Preparation of simple meals
  • Practicing reading and following a recipe
  • Utilising kitchen utensils and appliances in a safe and hygienic way
  • Social skills and confidence in the kitchen

Who Should Register?

This group is for young adults aged 17 years and over who have:

  • An Autism diagnosis
  • Good verbal communication

Note:

  • NDIS Capacity Building Supports Funding is required to participate
  • Support Workers welcome to attend
